JOB SUMMARY:
Providecontinuous, safe, and effective evidence-based patient care. Perform at the topof your license, collaborating with a skilled team of nurses, cardiologists,and vascular surgeons to support cardiovascular ICU patients.
EDUCATION:
Master'sDegree required from accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician AssistantProgram
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred:1 year of clinical experience specific to practice as an acute care NP or PA preferred
Preferred: Experience working ina CVICU setting

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
REQUIRED
BLS (CPR) | AHA Health Care Provider BLS
Current PA or NP licensure in the State of NC
DEA License
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs evening roundson patients admitted into the department's service. Consistently performs dailyrounds in such a manner that meetsor exceeds patient care needs and physician satisfaction.

Responds to critical oremergency care alerts within the hospital units. Consistently responds toemergent and critical alerts. Is responsive to supervising physician directivesand orders, allowing for least amount of disruption to daily rounds.

Ensures continuity ofcare for patients, maintaining communication with the attending physician.Manages requests and notifications by pager and by phone, including necessary neworders for medications and other patient needs. Consistently coordinatespatient care and manages communications in such a manner that meets or exceedspatient care needs and physician satisfaction.

Provides assessment ofpatients and coordinates their care with the attending and referringphysicians. Consistently performs complete and accurate patient assessmentsthat require little to no physician rework. Consistently assesses patients insuch a manner that meets or exceeds patient care needs and physiciansatisfaction.

Reviews lab results, x-rays, and other test results with physicians, andorganizes information for rounds. Consistently performs complete and accuratereview of patient results. Consistently reviews and communicates results insuch a manner that meets or exceeds patient care needs and physiciansatisfaction. Uses all electronic and computerized resources to provide timelyand accurate patient care.

Under the guidelines of state and federal licensing, and according to hospitalpolicies, performs patient procedures as ordered by the physicians.Consistently performs patient procedures with skill in such a manner that meetsor exceeds patient care needs and physician satisfaction.

Serves as a point ofcontact for inpatient activities for nursing staff and physicians regardingadmissions and discharges. Consistently coordinates admissions and dischargesand manages communications in such a manner that meets or exceeds patient careneeds and physician satisfaction. Actions have a positive impact on patientLOS.

Participates in crosscoverage sign outs with physicians when appropriate. Consistently coordinatesand communicates between shifts in such a manner that meets or exceeds patientcare needs and physician satisfaction.

Assist in reviewing andcollecting data for use in quality improvement and for monitoring outcomes.Consistently provides support in review and collection of data. Responds torequests for data as needed.
