Thisposition will assist the Medical Director of Research with obtaining &maintaining clinical studies related to HIV research. Will provide clinicalcare to research patients and provide supervision of the Research Teamconsisting of research nurses and research assistants. 75% of time dedicated toResearch and 25% dedicated to providing clinical care within the RegionalCenter for Infectious Disease.EDUCATION:
Master'sDegree required from accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician AssistantProgramEXPERIENCE:
Five years of experience in Clinical Research or related field, including twoyears of
Three years of Infectious Disease experience as a Physician Assistant or NursePractitioner.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Current PA or NP licensure in the State of NC
PA certification with the National Commission on Certification of PhysicianAssistants (NCCPA)
NP certification with either the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC)or the National Certification Corporation (NCC)
ACLSESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provides guidance,leadership and direction to all staff practicing in the research department atthe Regional Center for Infectious Disease. Assists the Medical Director ofResearch with obtaining & maintaining clinical studies related to HIVresearch. Will provide clinical care to research patients and providesupervision of the Research Team consisting of research nurses and researchassistants.
Establishes peer review,provides input on performance, and is a conduit for communication betweenphysicians, administration, and the research team. Creates professionaldevelopment opportunities and supports research activities to insure allregulatory, accreditation and clinical standards are met. The APP ResearchManager is the voice of the Research team with all providers of the program andis the point of contact for questions and concerns.
Assists in the generaland technical supervision of research team members. Evaluates the research teamperformance and competencies in accordance with established policies andprocedures, governmental and other regulatory standards. Completes iCompassconversations. Physician and administrative input should be obtained duringthis process. Facilitates Research meetings.
Reviews and approves schedules including PAL, FMLA, CME, etc. Assists in therecruitment and interviewing process for new PA/NPs. Creates orientationprogram for new team members.
Works in tandem with managers, Medical Director, physicians, management teamand other APPs to establish department goals and objectives. Participates as arepresentative to the Consumer Advisory Board.
Participates in the development of policies and procedures relating to theprovision of patient care.
Communicates professionally, compassionately and effectively with patients,co-workers and referring physicians, government agencies
Provides appropriate patient assessment and establishes evidence-based plan ofcare with physician input when deemed to be appropriate.
Responds quickly andprofessionally to emergent care demands, family concerns and nursing questions.
Reviews, interprets andintegrates patient data. Uses all electronic and computerized resources toprovide timely and accurate patient care.
Provides patienteducation, discusses ongoing care, medications, resources for self-education,and when and how to contact the practice for emergent care.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
