This position is accountable to work under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist and assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department in order to provide quality patient care for the following patient age categories: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric, depending on the clinical setting. Pharmacy technicians will function in accordance with established procedures and guidelines; the supervising pharmacist must approve deviations from this.EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent, Required
High School diploma or equivalent must include basic arithmetic, algebra, reading, and writing, as well as some basic chemistry skills (ability to identify medications requiring specialized handling).EXPERIENCE:
All requirements for Pharmacy Technician I, plus one year of Cone Health hospital Pharmacy Technician experience. Two years of Pharmacy Technician work experience.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Pharmacy technician certification through PTCB or NHA prior to hire
Pharmacy Technicians must register with the NC Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire as a Pharmacy Tech. Pharmacy students that are currently enrolled in a school of pharmacy are not required to register with the NC Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
