Provides primary healthcare and performs selective medical services under the direction of supervising physicians in the Advanced Heart Failure/LVAD population. This will be a predominantly outpatient position. EDUCATION:
Master's Degree required from accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant ProgramEXPERIENCE:
One year in cardiology medical practice experience preferred. Experience in ambulatory environment preferred.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Current PA or NP licensure in the State of NC
DEA LicenseESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patient. Obtains and reviews patient records when needed.
Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis.
Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
Synthesizes data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention.
Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Assists physicians by recording patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders.
Triage telephone calls from patients, families, nurses, consultants, and colleagues, and provides consultation.
Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
