TheNeonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) coordinates, delegates and provides primarypatient care to patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) under thesupervision of the Neonatal Service physicians. Medical acts performed by theNNP will be those allowed by the rules and regulations governing nursepractitioners practicing in the NICU.EDUCATION:
Completion of a neonatal nurse practitioner education program approved by thestate of North Carolina (certificate program or master's program)EXPERIENCE:
Required:2 years of NICU RN experience
Preferred: NNP ExperienceLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING
Eligibility for approval by the North Carolina Board of Nursing/North CarolinaBoard of Medical Examiners
Certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or eligible to obtain certificationwithin one year of hire (National Certification Corporation)
BLS (CPR) | AHA Health Care Provider BLS
NP licensure in the State of NC

Providesdiagnosis and treatment to infants in the NICU in order to meet Hospitalguidelines. Initiates and carries out medically acceptable emergency proceduresif complications arise until the physician is notified for guidance and/orarrives to assist with management of the complication
Provides leadership for the development and maintenance of clinical standards,policies and procedures and quality improvement programs by assisting with unitand Hospital based teams/committees. Implements practice changes which improveefficiency and effectiveness of care based on evidence. Precepts NNP studentsand new NNPs based on approved guidelines and protocolsCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
