Required - Graduatefrom School of Nursing and School of Nurse AnesthesiaLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Current North CarolinaRegistered Nurse (RN) licensure, Recognition as an Advanced Practice RN by theNC Board of Nursing.
Certification/Recertificationas a Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board of Certification &Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NCBRNA).
| BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
PALS or NPR per campusrecommendation
If driving Cone Healthvehicle, must have 5 years of driving experience and MVR must be approved byRisk Management.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Completes apre-anesthetic assessment and formulates anesthesia management plan.Consistently completes a pre-anesthetic assessment. Collects, reviews, andevaluates all data pertinent to the patient's medical and surgical history,with consideration of the planned procedure. Thoroughly documents theassessment data and anesthetic plan. Collaborates with the care team toformulate an anesthetic plan. Ensures completion of the Patient SafetyChecklist by initiating the complete items.
Completes all required documentation. Consistently completes all requireddocumentation; the Surgical Safety Checklist, the pre-operative assessment, theintra-operative anesthetic record, and the transfer-of-care note. Accuratelycompletes anesthesia charges. Consistently labels medication in accordance withaccepted standards. Accurately accounts for controlled substances.Independently completes incident reporting in the computerized Safety Portal.
Demonstrates personal accountability and effective conflictresolution/negotiation skills. Demonstrates appropriate use of universalprecautions and use of personal protective equipment. Maintains safeenvironment and responds appropriately to emergencies and safety hazards.Promotes positive, supportive, and professional work environment free ofdisruptive behavior. Practices, in all professional relationships, withcompassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and uniqueness of everyindividual. Follows Chain of Command for assistance with issues related tounresolved/problem-solving and/or conflict resolution. Provides, seeks andreceives constructive feedback. Provides peer to peer feedback and seeksmediation as necessary. Facilitates building and preserving collaborative andrespectful relationships.
Demonstrates use of all supplies and equipment. Anesthetic supplies andequipment are always inspected and prepared with patient safety as a priority.Consistently anticipates and utilizes the appropriate equipment and suppliesfor individual patient needs. Demonstrates knowledge of the location, use,handling, cleaning, and maintenance of all equipment and supplies. Rarely needshelp with technical aspects of equipment.
Implements and evaluates anesthetic plan. Prepares and administers medicationsand fluids in accordance with accepted standards of safe practice. Maintainsconstant vigilance with ongoing assessment of airway, depth of anesthesia,fluids status, and physiologic response to anesthesia. Communicates any changein patient status appropriately with the care team. Organizes and prioritizesactions efficiently and effectively. Accurately reports essential informationupon transfer of care.
Maintains knowledge base for population served. Proactively enhances knowledgebase for the anesthetic care of all patient populations served. Maintainscertification as appropriate.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
