The BirthPlace Technician provides care of a technical nature to patients admitted to the BirthPlace by performing surgical scrub duties for patients as a member of the surgical team. This individual will also provide clerical support, materials management support, transporting of patients and specimens, and will perform routine unit checks as determined necessary by the charge nurse. The BirthPlace Technician must have appropriate communication skills, and must be an extremely flexible and adaptive individual with a positive attitude toward a rapidly changing workplace.EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent, plus
Graduate of a School of Surgical Technology or equivalent military training with surgical technologist experienceEXPERIENCE:
Required: 1 year or less in surgical technology field.
Preferred: Previous Operating Room experience, with expertise in women's surgery.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Required: CST Certified Surgical Technologist or Certification eligible. Certifications should come from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. Must successfully sit and pass Certification examination with 12 months from employment hire/start date.
Surgical Technologist hired prior to 12/31/2017 Certification requirement will be waved and grandfathered
