Job Description

LOCATION: Alamance Regional MedicalCenter

CITY: Burlington

JOB DETAILS:
Exempt: Yes | FTE: 1.0 (40 hours/week) | Schedule: 16 hour nights with some dayshifts for mtgs and ed | On Call: NO

JOB SUMMARY:
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) coordinates,delegates and provides primary patient care to patients in the NeonatalIntensive Care Unit (NICU) under the supervision of the Neonatal Servicephysicians. Medical acts performed by the NNP will be those allowed by therules and regulations governing nurse practitioners practicing in the NICU.

EDUCATION:
SN - Completion of a neonatal nurse practitionereducation program approved by the state of North Carolina (certificate programor master's program)
Preferred:
Master's degree in a health related field: nursing, public health, childdevelopment

EXPERIENCE:
2 years of NICU RN experience

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:
Current valid NC State Board Registered Nurse License
Eligibility for approval by the North Carolina Board of Nursing/North CarolinaBoard of Medical Examiners
Certified as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or eligible to obtain certificationwithin one year of hire (National Certification Corporation)
AHA Health Care Provider BLS (CPR)
NRP

ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS
Applies advanced knowledge and clinical expertise to accomplishoptimal patient outcomes. Conducts expert clinical assessments inuncomplicated, complex and crisis situations. Directs multidisciplinary team indevelopment and implementation of care of patients and families. Is an advocatefor families.
Demonstratesaccountability for/promotes own professional growth and development

Demonstrates integrity, commitment, competency andcommunication skills while serving as a coach and role model to others

Provides diagnosisand treatment to infants in the NICU in order to meet Hospital guidelines.Initiates and carries out medically acceptable emergency procedures ifcomplications arise until the physician is notified for guidance and/or arrivesto assist with management of the complication

Provides leadershipfor the development and maintenance of clinical standards, policies andprocedures and quality improvement programs by assisting with unit and Hospitalbased teams/committees. Implements practice changes which improve efficiencyand effectiveness of care based on evidence. Precepts NNP students and new NNPsbased on approved guidelines and protocols
