Independently provides patient care according to treatment protocols in accordance with NCCEP protocols set forth by the N. C. Office of EMS. Exhibits standards of professional practice. Demonstrates personal commitment to quality and personal accountability. This position serves the following patient age categories: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric. Work involves serving as a member of an ambulance crew and, in the event that the other member of the crew is classified as EMT-Basic, is responsible for the medical care administered to the patient. Work also involves serving as member of Specialty Care Transport team along with an RN and EMT-Basic. Drives and maintains an emergency medical vehicle as needed.EDUCATION:

Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Medical Science or health related field prior to hireEXPERIENCE:
*Required Experience: Minimum 3 years EMS paramedic level or critical care transport experience
*Required for Relief Paramedics: 5 years of EMS paramedic level experience and 1 year of critical care
paramedic transport experience.
* Required for Paramedic III, must have 5 years of pre-hospital paramedic experience, NC state Paramedic certification, Associate's degree, recommendation letters, provide one in-service education event, demonstrate completion of 36 hours of continuing education, complete activities valued at 10 points, be a clinical champion or paramedic clinical exemplar, complete a QI clinical project, and maintain annual requirements per the Professional Paramedic Advanced Program.
* Required for Critical Care (CC) Paramedic, must have 6 years of pre-hospital paramedic experience, NC state Paramedic certification, Associate's degree, National Registry Paramedic (NR-P), and Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C) or Flight Paramedic certification (FP-C), recommendation letters, provide two in-service education events, demonstrate completion of 50 hours of continuing education, complete activities valued at 15 points, be a clinical champion AND paramedic clinical exemplar, complete a QI/EBP/Research clinical project, and maintain annual requirements per the Professional Paramedic Advanced Program.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:

Required: Current valid NC EMT-Paramedic certification. (Verified through EMS Performance Improvement Center - www.emspic.org
Required: Valid licensed driver for a minimum of 7 years and hold a current valid driver's license with good driving history. MVR must be approved by Risk Management. Must complete Emergency Vehicle Operator's course within 1 year of hire.
Required: PALS, ENPC or PITLS, TNCC or ITLS, and NRP certifications obtained within 1 year of hire and must maintain current status in each.
Preferred: Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator's course.
