On Call: NOJOB SUMMARY:
Provides Behavioral Health focused healthcare and performs selective medical services under the direction of supervising physicians on the Inpatient, Outpatient, Behavioral Health Observation units, Telepsych
consults service and/or Emergency Department in the Psychiatric ED and Wesley Long ED.EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited Physician's Assistant Program or Master's Degree in Nursing as appropriate to certification.
Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse PractitionerEXPERIENCE:
One year in inpatient medical practice
Experience in ambulatory primary care environment; previous experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING-REQUIRED:
Driver's License - NC DRIVER'S LICENSE
Current certification as a Physician's Assistant or as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of North Carolina; Current DEA registration.
A current American Heart Association (AHA), Basic Life Support (BLS) card for Health Care Provider is required.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING-PREFERRED:
Current Psychiatric certification preferred/ Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse or National Certification - ANCC PMHNPMAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:
Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patient. Completes PAA and obtains and reviews patient records when needed. Provides telepsych consults, admission and discharge services on all inpatient units, including BH Observation unit and WL Psych ED.
Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.
Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis.
Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.
Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Assists physicians by recording patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders. Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
Triage telephone calls from patients, families, nurses, consultants, and colleagues. Provides consultation services and/or Telepsych consultations. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:*
