LOCATION : Cone Health, Greensboro

JOB DETAILS :
Exempt: No
FTE: 1.0 (40 hours/week)
Schedule: M-F 8-4:30
On Call: No

JOB SUMMARY :

Responsible for facilitating support for coding staff to include responding to questions, guiding research, performing quality audits, assigning work distribution and communicating education. Must also be responsible for assisting with new hire training and cross training of existing staff. Responsible for maintaining CHL Work Queues (edits, denials, manager review, Uncoded etc.) as assigned by leadership. Responsible for maintaining expertise necessary to accurately code outpatient and inpatient encounters and will code as necessary to maintain desired unbilled levels. Position is classified as professional which requires a minimum four week notice upon resignation.

EDUCATION :

Required:
Minimum Associate Degree in a healthcare related field. completion of formal course of study in medical coding, billing, and regulatory compliance
Preferred:
BS Degree in a healthcare related field

EXPERIENCE :

Required:
5 years in either Inpatient or Outpatient coding in an acute care facility
Preferred:
6+ years Inpatient and Outpatient coding in an acute care facility

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING-REQUIRED :

Required:
At least one of the following:
• RHIA
• RHIT
• CCS
• CPC
• CCS-P
• COC
• CIC

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING-PREFERRED :

Preferred:
• RHIA, RHIT with

• CCS, CPC, CCS-P, COC, CIC

MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES :

Actively code accounts weekly as determined by leadership to maintain coding knowledge and expertise. 20 %

Facilitates coding support initiatives to ensure coding accuracy in accordance with department standards. 25 %

Generate and distribute reports to support coder productivity, performance feedback, or management needs. 20 %

Maintains awareness and demonstrates responsiveness to coder educational and training needs for both new hires and existing coders. 25 %

Monitor uncoded accounts and perform other workflow processes to support optimal revenue cycle performance. 10 %
