Stepdown is a 18-bed private patient care area with hard wire and telemetry monitoring capability that provides care primarily to med/surg. patients who are improving with respiratory failure but still require active titration of therapy, mildly ill hemodynamically unstable patients requiring limited vasoactive infusions and care of the limited code status patient who may benefit from limited NPPV or vasoactive medications. The department functions 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. 2600 contains a central cardiac monitoring station, ventilator capability, eLink eICU monitoring, in room patient dialysis and patient call system.
Serves as a department leader, clinical expert for the patient population served, and as an educator and resource for staff. Assesses, plans, implements, documents, organizes, prioritizes, delegates, supervises and coordinates the care of neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric patients as prescribed within the parameters of the NC Nurse Practice Act and hospital complex.
