The CV-Clinical Educator Liaison supports Cone Health by providing clinical support and mentoring to
caregivers, patients, and families in the CV-ICU. Working collaboratively with nursing staff, medical staff, and
subject matter experts, the CV-CEL provides ongoing clinical education for team members
Graduate of an RN Educational Program; Baccalaureate in Nursing required; Master's degree in Nursing,
nursing education or nursing specialty
Minimum three years RN clinical practice required
2 years Cardiovascular experience preferred.
RN/Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a compact state.
BLS (CPR) | AHA Health Care Provider BLS
Certification is required in a clinical specialty as defined by National Certification requirements.
ACLS | Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
PALS | Pediatric Advanced Life Support
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS• Applies theoretical approaches to teaching and learning appropriate to the clinical practice setting.• Provides staff development through the use of mentoring, coaching, and counseling techniques.• Demonstrates knowledge and skills in clinical area of practice.• Promotes evidence based practice through research and its utilization.• Provides leadership by acting as a change agent. Cardiovascular Medical and Cardiovascular Surgical Specific:• Coordination and sustainment of all cross-training activities for CV-ICU• Onboarding of all new CVICU team members Collaboration with MDs and CV SMEs for the integration of evidence based practice modalities into CVICU• Demonstrates flexibility to ensure that competency needs for all shifts are covered• Planning and advertising frequent educational opportunities to enhance clinical confidence for all staff• Conducts needs assessments and obtaining educational resources for advanced CV skills training and competencies• Provides updates to department leaders and medical directors regarding departmental competency status• Provides education to patients and family regarding pre and post cardiac surgery and advanced cardiac treatment modalities• Assists staff with care coordination of cardiac surgery patients and other patients requiring advanced CV treatment modalities• Provides families with support and guidance as they navigate care processes in the post-surgical andinpatient service areas
