Job Description

LOCATION: Alamance Regional Medical Center, SW-Office of Inclusion
CITY: Burlington

JOB DETAILS:
Exempt: No | FTE: 0.5 (20 hours/week | Schedule: Friday evening and weekend shifts | On Call: NO

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides interpreting services to limited English proficiency patients receiving care through Cone Health. Works collaboratively with Cone Health staff to assure that patients' rights are protected and that appropriate and accurate information is communicated to individual patients verbally, written, and in organizational information and/or consent forms.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent - Required
Preferred:
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree

EXPERIENCE:

Additional Information:
Two (2) years of experience as medical interpreter with HS Diploma or GED; one (1) year of experience as a medical interpreter with an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree.
Successful completion of Interpreter Skills Assessment to measure medical terminology and interpretation skills in English & target language of Spanish.
Successful completion of a Medical Interpretation Training course. Medical Interpretation Training such as Bridging the Gap, AHEC Interpretation Training (levels I, II, and III), Community College Medical Interpreter certificate or others will satisfy this requirement.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING-PREFERRED:
Certified by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI), or certified by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI)
