Exempt: No | <\/font>FTE: 1.0 (40 hours/week) | Schedule: <\/font>12 hour days, 7am-7pm, 3 days one week and 4 days the next with rotating weekends<\/font> | <\/font>On Call: <\/font>YES

JOB SUMMARY<\/b>:
<\/font><\/span><\/p>

Under the direction of the RN or MD, provides quality patient care using the nursing process <\/span><\/font>standards and policies established by the North Carolina Nurse Practice Act and hospital standards.<\/span><\/p>


EDUCATION<\/b>:<\/span><\/font>
Graduate of a Licensed Practical Nursing program required.<\/span><\/font>

EXPERIENCE<\/b>:<\/span><\/font>
One year professional experience in a clinical setting preferred.<\/span><\/font>

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING-REQUIRED<\/b>:<\/span><\/font>
LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse<\/span><\/font><\/font><\/span><\/p>

BLS (CPR) - <\/span><\/font>AHA Health Care Provider BLS<\/span><\/p>


MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES<\/b>:<\/span><\/font>
<\/font><\/span><\/p>

Performs general patient care under the direction of the RN, MD or Provider. Collects <\/span><\/font>patient history and medical information and any additional information such as <\/span>biological, psychological, social and cultural factors needed to provide complete <\/span>treatment of the patient and documents in medical record. Performs clinical and <\/span>technical aspects of nursing care in accordance with prescribed procedure and <\/span>technique and according to unit standards and competencies. Assists in identifying <\/span>patient problems, patient and family goals and developing plan of care. Implements <\/span>plan of care as directed by RN or MD and documents nursing interventions <\/span>performed according to policy and procedure. Documents patient response to <\/span>interventions and communicates effectiveness to RN or MD or provider. Prepares <\/span>equipment and exam rooms as necessary to assist physician or provider during <\/span>treatment, examination and testing of patients. Implements proper procedure, <\/span>technique and safety precautions as warranted by condition of patient, and monitors <\/span>such practices by nursing assistants. <\/span>40 %<\/span><\/p>


<\/span><\/font><\/p>

Establishes a caring and therapeutic nurse/healthcare team/patient/significant other <\/span><\/font>relationships. Recognizes communication barriers, identifies resources and <\/span>establishes plans to resolve barriers to communication. Demonstrates respect for <\/span>diversity and cultural differences in patient/significant others related to age, ethnicity, <\/span>gender, religion, socioeconomics, education, personality, or other unique variable. <\/span>Advocates for the patient/significant other. Demonstrates skillful responses to <\/span>customer needs based on particular context of the situation. Provides education to <\/span>staff related to the patient/nurse relationship. Provides patient with health care <\/span>instruction and information appropriate to his/her needs as stated in the plan of care <\/span>documenting information provided and patient response. <\/span>35 %<\/span><\/p>

Demonstrates personal accountability and effective conflict resolution/negotiation <\/span><\/font>skills. Demonstrates appropriate use of universal precautions and use of personal <\/span>protective equipment. Maintains safe environment and responds appropriately to <\/span>emergencies and safety hazards. Promotes positive, supportive, and professional <\/span>work environment free of disruptive behavior. Practices, in all professional <\/span>relationships, with compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and <\/span>uniqueness of every individual. Follows Chain of Command for assistance with issues <\/span>related to unresolved/problem-solving and/or conflict resolution. Provides, seeks and <\/span>receives constructive feedback. Provides peer to peer feedback and seeks mediation <\/span>as necessary. Facilitates building and preserving collaborative and respectful <\/span>relationships. <\/span><\/font><\/font><\/span>25 %<\/span><\/p>
